September 1, 1904 – The legend Johnny Mack Brown began when he was born.

Brown was a former University of Alabama halfback and later became a Hollywood actor. Legendary opposing coach Pop Warner described Brown as one of the fastest football players he had ever seen.

In 1925, Johnny Mack Brown helped the Crimson Tide win the national championship.

He was recognized as a legend in 1957 when he was enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame. [National Football Foundation]

In Hollywood, Brown had the starring role in the 1930 film “Billy the Kid.”
