50 Years of “The Sheriff”: A Birthday Tribute

By Darin Hayes | March 24, 2026

Today, the football world tips its cap to one of the greatest “field generals” to ever bark an audible. Peyton Manning [1976] officially joins the 50-club today. While his playing days ended a decade ago with a Super Bowl 50 ring, his influence on the game remains as strong as ever.

From his record-setting days in Knoxville to his legendary runs in Indianapolis and Denver, Manning redefined the quarterback position. He wasn’t just a passer; he was a coordinator on the field. Historians will forever point to his 2013 season—where he threw for a staggering 5,477 yards and 55 touchdowns—as a masterclass in offensive efficiency.

As Manning celebrates his 50th, we remember the 5 MVP awards, the 14 Pro Bowls, and the countless “Omahas” that echoed through stadiums across the country. Happy Birthday, #18!
