September 1, 1974 – NFL legend Jason Taylor was born.
Taylor was a disruptive defensive end for the Dolphins, the New York Jets, and the Washington Redskins during his 15-year career.
Miami drafted him with the 73rd overall pick in the 1997 NFL Draft, and they were not disappointed.
Taylor went on to record 139.5 sacks in his career, and in 2006, he was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
He was a three-time first-team All-Pro and was named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team for the 2000s.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrined Jason in their 2017 enshrinement class.
Jason Taylor didn’t just sack quarterbacks—he actively scored points. Taylor holds the NFL record for the most fumble return touchdowns in league history with six. When you combine those with his three interception returns, his nine total defensive touchdowns stand as the all-time record for a defensive lineman.
