March 10, 1965 – Fort Wayne, Indiana – Rod Woodson, world-class cornerback from Purdue, was born. Woodson was the 1986 runner-up for the Jim Thorpe Award and left Purdue with 13 school records, leading in solo tackles, interceptions, and kick returns. Inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2016, he was selected tenth overall by the Steelers in 1987.

Over 17 seasons, Woodson was a six-time All-Pro, the 1993 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and retired with 71 interceptions and the record for interception return yards (1,473). He played for the Steelers, 49ers, Ravens, and Raiders and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009.
