Have you ever had those moments during the day where you just want to flex your football fandom? Maybe you’re waiting in line for coffee, or you’ve got two minutes between meetings, and you want to dive back into the game we love.
Well, I recently had a fascinating chat in the “Pig Pen” with a gentleman named Morgan Kenyon, and he has created exactly what we’ve been looking for. It’s called GridironGuru.app, and if you love football history as much as I do, you’re going to be hooked.
What is GridironGuru?
Morgan’s creation isn’t your typical multiple-choice quiz. It’s a daily timeline game.
Here’s how it works: Every day, you get a fresh round of eight facts—everything from major Super Bowl milestones to obscure franchise moves (did you know the Redskins started in Boston?). You get one event at a time and have to decide where it fits on a chronological timeline.
As the timeline fills up, the windows get smaller and the choices get tougher. It’s casual, it’s quick, and as Morgan says, it’s “education by a thousand facts.”
Why I’m Playing Every Day
During our interview, Morgan actually put me on the spot and had me play a round. I’m a guy who talks football history every single day, and even I got tripped up on a 1991 Brett Favre draft fact! It just goes to show that no matter how much you think you know, there’s always a little nugget of history waiting to be rediscovered.
What I love about this app is that it’s a connector. Football is a bonding language. Morgan told me stories about how he uses the game to stay in touch with old friends—they text their daily scores (a perfect 28/28 is the goal!) and it sparks conversations that go beyond just the gridiron.
