A high-profile football crime known as the 1926 Football robbery occurred at a local high school near Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, October 19, 1926.
A blurb in the local fishwrap stated that the gridiron equipment for nearby Pittston High had been stolen during a recent robbery-and-break-in at the school.
It is hard to find details of if the criminal perpetraders were ever apprehended but maybe it was an inside jib due to rival Kingston High School overwhelming Pittston High School during an October 2, 1926 game by a record-setting score of 155-0!
OUCH!!
