Walt Kiesling Guard/Coach Pittsburgh Pirates/Steelers 1937 1956

Walt Kiesling shapes the very bedrock of professional gridiron history through a brutal, 36-year crusade as an elite blocker and franchise builder. Very few men can say they witnessed the evolution of the NFL from its raw, barnstorming infancy into a structured national powerhouse, but Kiesling lived it from the trenches. Larger, stronger, and smarter than the men across from him, he cleared paths for legendary backs before transitioning to the sidelines to guide teams through wartime chaos and historic franchise milestones. From the frozen fields of Duluth to the hallowed halls of Canton, this is the story of an indomitable pioneer who gave everything he had to the game.
