August 5, 1946 – Gary Beban, who was the quarterback from UCLA who won the coveted Heisman Trophy in 1967, edging out O.J. Simpson by the narrowest of margins, as well as a Maxwell Award for being the best all-around college football player that season per the NFF.
He also received awards for academic accomplishments for being a great student. Well done.
Mr. Beban entered the College Football Hall of Fame in the induction class of 1989. He played professionally in the NFL for the Los Angeles Rams, Washington Redskins, and the Denver Broncos.
