Road to the Pro Game

Bailey’s extraordinary athleticism made him a prized prospect for the next level. The Washington Redskins selected him seventh overall in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft. He immediately translated his skills to the pro game, starting all 16 games as a rookie, recording 5 interceptions, and becoming the youngest player in NFL history (at 21 years old) to intercept 3 passes in a single game. After five standout seasons in Washington, he was traded to the Denver Broncos in 2004, where his lockdown reputation grew into league dominance.

Football Legacy

Bailey spent 10 seasons in Denver, anchoring the Broncos’ secondary with flawless technique and remarkable closing speed. He was a cornerstone of six playoff teams and helped lead Denver to an AFC Championship in the 2013 season. Renowned for erasing the league’s top wide receivers without requiring safety help, Bailey’s impact earned him a spot on the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team. In 2019, he was cemented among the sport’s all-time greats with a first-ballot election into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
