September 3, 1930 – Tom Scott, the former linebacker from the University of Virginia, was born.
Tom was an All-American at both offensive end and defensive end slash linebacker.

Scott played professionally for the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants.
In college, he also excelled as an elite lacrosse player.

- Inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1979.
- Earned First-Team All-American honors in football for the Virginia Cavaliers in 1952.
- Selected to two consecutive NFL Pro Bowls (1957, 1958) during his tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles.
- Played 12 productive seasons in the NFL as a linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles (1953β1958) and New York Giants (1959β1964).
- Selected 60th overall in the 5th round of the 1953 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams (rights later acquired by Philadelphia).
- Became the first athlete in University of Virginia history to earn All-American honors in two different sports.
