Sington's collegiate career at the University of Alabama was spectacular. He was a dominant force on the Crimson Tide football team, playing center and earning recognition as one of the best linemen of his era. Under the legendary coach Wallace Wade, Sington was a key component of Alabama's dominant teams of the early 1930s. He was a member of the 1930 national championship team, and his leadership and skill were instrumental in the Crimson Tide's success.
