College Career

Attending Troy University from 2001 to 2004, Ware was a pivotal force as the Trojans transitioned into the NCAA FBS level. Playing defensive end, he earned First-Team All-Sun Belt honors and was named the 2004 Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year. As a senior finalist for the Hendricks Award, he led Troy to its first bowl appearance at the Silicon Valley Football Classic. Ware finished his college career with 27.5 sacks and 55.5 tackles for loss, setting a school record for tackles for loss.

Road to the Pro Game

Ware’s explosive athleticism, 4.65-second 40-yard dash speed, and technical polish made him a prized prospect entering the 2005 NFL Draft. The Dallas Cowboys selected Ware in the first round with the 11th overall pick. Transitioning from college defensive end to a 3-4 outside linebacker, Ware became an instant starter and defensive centerpiece in Dallas.

Ware played nine seasons for the Dallas Cowboys (2005–2013), becoming the franchise’s all-time leader in sacks with 117. In 2014, he signed with the Denver Broncos (2014–2016). Ware’s pass rush and veteran leadership anchored Denver’s defense, culminating in a victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.
