Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Carmichael's football journey began at Temple University, where he quickly established himself as a dominant force. His combination of size, speed, and athleticism made him a nightmare for opposing defenses.

Drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1970, Carmichael's NFL career was a testament to his enduring talent and dedication. Throughout his 14-year tenure with the Eagles, he consistently showcased his ability to make acrobatic catches, outmuscle defenders, and haul in touchdowns.
