November 20, 1970 - Houston, Texas - Trevor Cobb, the great Rice University Running Back, was born. Trevor was voted an All-American and earned the 1991 Doak Walker Award as the best running back in the nation for the season. The National Football Foundation says Cobb owned almost every rushing record at Rice University when his career ended in 1992. The prolific runner had 4,948 yards, which ranks 24th in NCAA Football History. The NFF board voted Trevor Cobb into their College Football Hall of Fame in 2018. After college, Trevor played in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Chicago Bears. The Rice Alum also played for the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe in 1996.

Rice University Owls football player Trevor Cobb
Cobb was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He attended J—Frank Dobie High School, where he was a standout football and track athlete. Several significant colleges recruited Cobb, but he ultimately chose to stay close to home and attend Rice University.
Cobb made an immediate impact on the Rice football program. As a freshman in 1989, he ran for 1,087 yards and 12 touchdowns. Cobb's breakout season came in 1991 when he rushed for 1,692 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also led the nation in all-purpose yards with 2,249. Cobb's performance that season earned him the Doak Walker Award, given annually to the nation's top college running back.
