The Georgia State Panthers football program is a relatively new program, having been founded in 2010. The team competes in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and is a member of the Sun Belt Conference.
The Panthers have had some success in their short history, winning their first Sun Belt Conference championship in 2017. They have also made two bowl appearances, losing to Western Kentucky in the 2017 Cure Bowl and defeating Western Michigan in the 2020 Camellia Bowl.

The Panthers play their home games at Center Parc Stadium, which is located in downtown Atlanta. The stadium has a capacity of 24,000 and opened in 2017.
