The Miami RedHawks football program began play in 1888 and has competed in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) since 1946. The RedHawks have an all-time record of 571-535-34, and have won 14 conference championships.
The RedHawks' most successful era came under head coach Chuck Studley, who led the team from 1951 to 1974. During his tenure, Studley led the RedHawks to a 183-65-8 record, including 11 conference championships and six bowl victories. Studley also coached the RedHawks to their first-ever top-25 national ranking in 1958.
Other notable Miami football coaches include Sid Gillman (who coached the RedHawks from 1946 to 1949) and Terry Hoeppner (who coached the RedHawks from 1999 to 2003).
