It is a game labeled with two simple but very descriptive and fitting words, "The Comeback." On November 30, 1974, the Fighting Irish entered the LA Coliseum and held a 24-6 halftime lead over the Trojans. In an inspiring halftime speech, USC Coach John McKay predicted in front of the team that Anthony Davis would return the second-half kickoff for a touchdown. Who knows whether it was a coach's premonition or just the power of suggestion, but it was what Davis did. Davis' 102-yard kick return for a touchdown was the first score of 49 straight points for Southern Cal in the game that ended up becoming a lopsided route for the home team and a 55-24 Southern Cal victory. ESPN ranked it the 28th-best collegiate game in the first 150 years of football.
