The contest on November 20, 1971, where the un-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes traveled to face their arch-rival, the Number 3 Michigan Wolverines, turned into quite the thriller! Underdog Ohio State took a 7-3 third-quarter lead on an 85-yard Tom Campana punt return. However, the Wolverines answered the bell with Bill Taylor's 21-yard TD scamper with 2:07 left. OSU had one more chance as they tried to move the ball late. However, Michigan's Thom Darden's game-clinching interception preserved the Wolverines' undefeated record in a 10-7 Michigan win. To add to the memories, Buckeyes coach Woody Hayes earned two 15-yard Un-Sportsmanlike penalties as he ripped a down marker to shreds after the Darden pick. ESPN in 2019 ranked it as the 133rd Greatest College Game ever.
