Raised in Tennessee and Denver, David Neil Drews was a commercial banker and then
an English teacher prior to becoming a writer. He has two bachelor’s degrees from the University
of Tennessee, one in finance and one in English Literature, and a masters in English Education.
Iron Tigers reflects his passion for sports, American history, and fiction. Since attending his first
University of Tennessee Volunteers football game in 1970, his blood has run deep orange. Yet,
after spending five years researching the legendary 1899 Sewanee football team, some say there
is a tinge of purple to his complexion.

Football history and the professional game's most important people from the perspective of a man who was a part of some of the greatest teams in history. Michael Lombardi is a former NFL executive and strategist that helped the San Francisco 49ers under Bill Walsh and the New England Patriots under Bill Belichick hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Micahel also worked in the Cleveland Browns organization (old and new) and with the Oakland Raiders under Al Davis.
Mr. Lombardi shares his list of the top coaches and players with in-depth reasons for their rankings, along with some personal stories and a bit of pop culture mixed in.

The great Colorado Buffalo back went much higher in life than football took him.

A semi-professional team run by Art Rooney Sr in 1931. The team started as the Hope-Harveys, and later after gaining sponsorship, turned into the Majestic Radios of Loeffler's Electronic Store. The team's affiliation with Loeffler's ended prior to the team's 1931 season. When James decided to run for the Pennsylvania General Assembly, Art renamed the team the "J.P. Rooneys" as a way to promote his brother's campaign. James Rooney would go on to win the election easily.
In 1933 Art Rooney would found the Pittsburgh Pirates NFL franchise and in 1940 rename them the Steelers.

Litkenhous Difference by Score Ratings System - This mathematical system  was used to rank football and basketball teams, based on the score differential of common opponents and opponents in general during a season. The Litrating system was developed by Vanderbilt University professor Edward E. Litkenhous and his brother, Francis H. Litkenhous.
