College Career:

Art Wheeler played as a guard for the Princeton Tigers from 1892 to 1894. He quickly established himself as a dominant force on the offensive and defensive lines. Wheeler was a key figure in a Princeton team that achieved remarkable defensive success, holding an astounding 26 out of 35 opponents scoreless during his three-year tenure. His exceptional play was instrumental in Princeton's undefeated 11-0-0 season in 1893, a year in which they were crowned National Champions. Wheeler's consistent brilliance earned him prestigious recognition, as he was named to Walter Camp's All-America Team three times. Notably, the intense rivalry game between Princeton and Harvard was canceled during Wheeler's playing years, preventing him from participating in that historic contest.

Art Wheeler's football legacy is firmly rooted in his dominant play for Princeton during the 1890s. As a key force in the Tigers' line, his contributions were pivotal to their defensive strength and national championship victory in 1893. Wheeler's three selections to Walter Camp's All-America Team underscore his status as one of the elite players of his era.
