Jeffrey Lurie Donates $1 Million towards COVID-19 research
April 3, 2020 ~ Our football feel good focus turns to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with news that came out Friday from the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Les Bowen. (click here for full article)Bowen reports on the paper’s website that Philadelphia Eagles owner, Jeffrey Lurie has donated $1 million to Penn Medicine to aid them in the research on coronavirus.
According to the report, Penn Medicine announced on Friday April 3, 2020 that they are establishing the COVID-19 Immunology Defense Fund using Lurie’s donation as the seed money for the fund.
The Eagle’s owner put out a statement, “ We are in the midst of a humanitarian crisis that is affecting all of us in so many ways. Every passing day brings new stories of heartbreaking tragedy, inspirational courage, and hopeful innovation.” Lurie went on to make the point that we are all in this fight against the pandemic together as the Philadelphia Inquirer report went on to quote him that people must, “focus our attention and resources toward sustainable strategies.”
