Great Book

Author Stephen Guinan joins to talk about his latest gridiron book about a great team with an interesting story from his hometown titled, "We Are The Troopers: The Women of the Winningest Team in Pro Football History." Their story is a good one and we are happy to have Stephen share it with us.

We Are The Troopers

Growing up in Toledo, Ohio author Stephen Guinan got to see some great football. True was not far from the Detroit Lions nor was the stadiums of Ohio State, Michigan or the University of Toledo very far to wath some big time college football. However the most dominant team of the gridiron in their respective level of play was a group of talented young ladies who called themselves the Toledo Troopers. Stephen still remembers this group and so he penned a book on this pretty incredible story fo the Toledo Women's team titled: WE ARE THE TROOPERS: The Women of the Winningest Team in Pro Football History . The book was recently released via Hachette Books, August 30, 2022 and can be found on Amazon and other vendors that sell fine books.

The Troopers were the winningest team in the National Women's Football League. The group made up of young women with the desire, talent and ambition to play football were made up of ladies from all walks of life. Muliple races, and backgrounds with Mothers, daughters, sisters and Aunts joining together to form a unified team of dominating football players. So dominating that they won seven league championships in the 1970s!

One of the stars of the teams was superstar, Linda Jefferson. In her first season she ran for over 1,300 yards and scored 32 touchdowns! What a way to start a career! Over the next four years she averaged 14.4 yards per carry. She had five undefeated seasons to her name.
