College Career

Jordan's college football journey began at the University of Alabama, where he played center for the Crimson Tide from 1960 to 1962. He arrived at Alabama a year after the legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant took over the program. Together, they played a crucial role in elevating Alabama's football program to national prominence. In 1960, during Jordan's sophomore year, Alabama achieved an 8-1-2 record, with a notable 3-3 tie against Texas in the Bluebonnet Bowl. Jordan's exceptional performance in that game earned him the Most Valuable Player award.

Jordan's senior season in 1962 was a resounding success. He was unanimously named an All-America selection, a testament to his outstanding play and leadership. The Crimson Tide posted a 10-1 record, culminating in a decisive 17-0 victory over Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl. In that game, Jordan showcased his defensive prowess with an impressive 30 tackles. Jordan's collegiate achievements are forever celebrated in the College Football Hall of Fame, where he was inducted in 1983.

Road to the Pro Game

After his stellar college career, Jordan was drafted sixth overall by the Dallas Cowboys in the 1963 NFL Draft. This marked the beginning of a remarkable 14-year professional career, all spent with the Cowboys.
