College Career

Owens attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he played both football and basketball. In football, he became a starter during his sophomore year. Owens set a school record for consecutive games with a reception and earned first-team All-Southern Conference honors.

Road to the Pro Game

Owens was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round (89th overall) of the 1996 NFL Draft.
