Raymond Anthony Lewis Jr. was born on May 15, 1975, in Bartow, Florida. He established himself as one of the most dominant linebackers in NFL history during his 17-year career with the Baltimore Ravens.

College Career

Ray Lewis attended the University of Miami from 1993 to 1995. He quickly became a key player for the Hurricanes, showcasing his exceptional talent and aggressive style of play. Lewis set a school single-season record for tackles by a middle linebacker. He was named All-Big East in both 1994 and 1995 and was a finalist for the Butkus Award.

Road to the Pro Game

After a successful college career, Lewis declared for the NFL Draft. The Baltimore Ravens selected him in the first round (26th overall) of the 1996 NFL Draft. This marked the beginning of his long and illustrious career with the franchise.

Football Legacy

Ray Lewis is considered one of the greatest middle linebackers of all time. He was known for his intensity, leadership, and playmaking ability. Lewis was the heart and soul of the Ravens' defense for many years, leading them to two Super Bowl victories. His passionate pre-game rituals and motivational speeches became iconic. He is the only player in NFL history with at least 40 career sacks and 30 career interceptions.
