A Truly Jaw Dropping Collection of Browns Items

A recent video conversation with Cleveland Browns fan and collector Ray Prisby floored me. So much so that I asked Ray if I could share the video with you rather than my standard podcast format. You are going to watch and listen to this one as it is quite amazing.

ShowDawg and His Collecting story

Ray Prisby was the 2021 Cleveland Browns Ford Super Fan of the year. Ray is a very passionate collector and his items cover a lot of history of the Cleveland Browns franchise history. From his humble collecting of trading cards to decking the halls and walls of his home with memorabilia Ray's collecting journey is impressive.

Even David Baker of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and the legend himself, Jim Brown, Number 32, were impressed with ShowDawg, Ray Prisby's collection of football history. Ray took us on a tour of the Jim Brown room complete with autographed items from the Hall of Fame running back like helmets, jerseys, paper stock, photos, and more. Ray shared the story of his winning the Fan of the Year contest, having David Baker and company knock and his door, and later the great Number 32 himself!

Ray and his collection have been featured in a USA Today Documentary, Cleveland Channel 19, and on Emeril Lagasse's Tailgate Show!

Ray guided us to his Joe Thomas and Bernie Kosar displays and then panned the camera on his extensive Browns bobble head collection. We couldn't even get to all of Ray's items or even rooms, so hopefully another video visit in the near future is in the cards.

One a of the great group we consider experts in their own area of sports history. It is a great thing when we are able to tap into a resource of a person that is willing to share their knowledge and help us understand a subject in greater detail.

Jim Brown

Born February 17, 1936, in St Simons, Georgia, was the all time great running back Jim Brown. When you talk about a player that rewrote the record books, Jim Brown’s name has to be at the top of the list. The FootballFoundation.org website shares that Brown in 1956 had a season where his rushing yards per game read something like 197 yards, 162, 155, 154 & 151 yards! He ended up with 986 yards for the season ranking him third in the nation and giving him the nod for unanimous All-America status. But that wasn’t it for “First Down Brown’s” scoring though as he also kicked for Syracuse. This is made evident at the Colgate game in 1956 when Jim scored six touchdowns and kicked seven extra points. That was a total of 43 points in a 61-7 game. Jim Brown easily won on the ballot to be enshrined into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Cleveland Browns wasted no time at all to make Jim their first round pick in the 1957 NFL Draft per the ProFootballHOF.com site. Brown played all nine of his years as a pro in Cleveland ammasssing 12312 yards rushing and 15459 total accumulated yards. The powerful back scored 756 points in those nine years in the NFL and played in a Pro Bowl every season in the League including being selected as the 1957 Rookie of the Year. Jim was the NFL’s Most Valuable Player in three different seasons! The Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971’s ceremonies enshrined Jim Brown into their Canton, Ohio Museum of legends.
