Roy Jefferson

Roy Jefferson was a dynamic wide receiver who played in the NFL for 12 seasons, from 1965 to 1976. Born on November 9, 1943, Jefferson made his mark with his speed, route-running ability, and reliable hands.

Jefferson began his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who selected him in the second round of the 1965 NFL Draft. He quickly became a key offensive weapon for the team. In 1968, he led the NFL in receiving yards, and in 1969, he recorded a career-high in receptions and receiving yards. Jefferson earned Pro Bowl honors in both 1968 and 1969 and was recognized as an All-Pro.

In 1970, Jefferson was traded to the Baltimore Colts, where he won Super Bowl V. He then played for the Washington Redskins from 1971 to 1976, becoming a favorite target for the team's quarterbacks and a key contributor during a successful era for the franchise. Jefferson's time in Washington included another Pro Bowl selection in 1971 and an appearance in Super Bowl VII.

Throughout his NFL career, Jefferson amassed 451 receptions for 7,539 yards and 52 touchdowns. He was known for his flamboyant style and was one of the league's most productive receivers during his time.
