Robert Thomas "Bobby" Davis Jr. was born on May 3, 1927, in Columbus, Georgia. He became a notable figure in American football, primarily recognized for his achievements as an offensive tackle at Georgia Tech.

College Career

Bobby Davis's college football career at Georgia Tech was stellar. He played for the Yellow Jackets from 1944 to 1947. Davis was a four-year starter and consistently delivered exceptional performances. His talent and dedication earned him three First-Team All-SEC honors (1945, 1946, and 1947). In 1946, he was recognized as a Second-Team All-American, and by his senior year, in 1947, he achieved the honor of being a Consensus All-American. Davis's contributions were so significant that he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1978.

Road to the Pro Game

Davis's football journey extended into the professional realm. He was drafted by the New York Giants in the sixth round of the 1947 NFL draft (44th overall pick). However, he played one season in the NFL for the Boston Yanks in 1948. During his time with the Boston Yanks, he appeared in 12 of their 14 games.
