FBS 2023 Dilemma
The FBS has an exciting decision on Sunday, December 4, 2023. The previous few days have shaken the rankings to the point where the Selection committee has seven dogs and four bones.

  1. Georgia Lost to No. 8 Alabama 24-27
  2. Michigan Won over No. 18 Iowa 26-0
  3. Washington Won over No. 5 Oregon 34-31
  4. Florida State Won over No. 14 Louisville 16-6
  5. Oregon Lost to No. 3 Washington 31-34
  6. Ohio State 11-1 was idle
  7. Texas defeated No. 18 Oklahoma State 49-21
  8. Alabama Won over No. Georgia 27-24

Wow, what a mess. If you went strictly by the rankings, then it would look like this:

  1. Michigan Wolverines
  2. Washington Huskies
  3. Florida State Seminoles
  4. Ohio State Buckeyes

Not many feel these are the four best teams in College Football. We suggest that the Selection Committee give the people the best possible four-team tournament and hand out these invites.

  1. Michigan Wolverines
  2. Texas Longhorns
  3. Alabama Crimson Tide
  4. Ohio State Buckeyes

Our apologies to undefeated Washington and Florida State, but they are not better than these four squads. Unfortunately the quality of competiton for the Noles and the Huskies is not to the level of wha the Longhorns, Tide, and Buckeyes faced. Strength of schedule means something and hopefully schools will strive to put stronger games on their dockets in the future where they can. Luckily, the expanded playoffs are coming to the FBS soon for a new set of challenges.

The Bowl games could then have a field day and pit Washington against Florida State and then Georgia against Oregon.
