Since the NFL was founded over a century ago, it has become the biggest American football league in the world, and it is also one of the most infamous leagues in the world.

In the time it took for the NFL to properly establish itself among the sports leagues, it recorded several major events, among these are the expansion of the league to its 32 teams, and also the NFL-AFL merger.

However, NFL odds would not be what they are today, if some of the older teams hadn’t developed age long rivalries that really test the water between teams.

While the merging of the NFL and AFL was a massive success that led to a huge amount of spectatorship, NFL rivalries that formed as a result of the NFL and AFL rivalries started to crop up.

Much alike to many other sports, the NFL rivalries that the teams have created have born a type of anticipation for fans. Many spectators will eagerly watch these rivals fight it could each season to make it to the Super Bowl.

But… who is the oldest rivalry in the history of the NFL? Many believe it is the Bears and Packers, but is this true?

Truthfully, there are many teams who have had rivalries for a long time in the NFL, there are only a few that are truly ancient though.

Chargers Vs Broncos: 1963

The Chargers have built up their momentum over the years and become one of the best teams in the NFL. And, before the AFL-NFL merger, the Chargers always reigned high over the Broncos.

But, it didn’t last forever, and the Broncos built up their own momentum in the 70s. They even won 11 out of 12 games in 1977. When Elway appeared in ‘83, he ended the dominance of the Chargers, and the Broncos scored 22 wins in comparison to the Chargers 10 losses.

The teams met 11 times between 2006 and 2011. Their rivalry has been heated, but not the most heated.
