Almost without exception every player you see in the NFL most likely played football at the high school level. It is where most stars will tell you they learned the fundamentals of the game that made them the awesome gridiron stars that they became.
We celebrate the high school level of football because it is played in darn near every town in the USA and it is the level that is most connected to communities. The history spans over three centuries now and it is really quite amazing.
